vision casting, no one listening

Exodus 6:6-9

Moses… “say to the people, ‘I will bring you out…I will deliver you…, I am the Lord your God…I will bring you into the land I swore to give to Abraham, to Issac, and to Jacob.’”

The People…”they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirits and harsh slavery.”

God gave Moses a great vision, the hope of a vastly preferred future

God’s people delivered and given a land flowing with milk and honey

Moses cleared his throat, stood tall, head up, and shoulders back

Moses painted the picture, beautifully, with his words, and the people wept with joy while marveling at the genius of Moses and the depth of which he had just moved them the people did not listen.

what ?!?!

They did not listen. They could not listen. They were hurting. “They did not listen to Moses because of their broken spirits and harsh slavery.”

Moses was ready to charge, his people needed to pull back.

Hurting, wounded, exhausted, broken spirits need hope, of course, but their most felt need is healing.

I remember coming out of COVID restrictions (finally) and a mentor suggesting that as the Lead Pastor and Primary Communicator, I teach and preach mostly encouraging series and messages (Psalms, Philippians, etc.) for our first YEAR OR TWO back together as a gathered church.

He reminded me my people and I were broken spirits and traumatized, and we would need time to heal before charging a new hill or taking any new ground.

Feel like your vision casting is falling flat?

Maybe it's not you or the vision that is the problem; maybe it's time to lead some healing so that vision has a future foundation.

Grindforth!…with two fingers on the pulse of your people.
