Let’s keep going!
Such kind feedback at the end of this update!
My deep desire was that readers would get this is bigger than coaching, basketball, or sports. Early indications is that readers are getting that message!
Billy is about a life well-lived and how his story can be an inspiration for all of us to treat people like Billy did, especially young people.
Amazon reviews are a phenomenal way to spread the message of Billy and push his legacy forward. Taking five minutes to leave a heart felt reaction to the book is like depositing a salesperson who goes to work 24/7/365. 🙏to those who have and will.
I have recently done an interview with a Scott County Newspaper, have a podcast appointment with a former coach / current podcaster tomorrow. I’m crafting a plan for Joseph-Beth in Lexington, and working with Scott County, The Tyler Hicks Foundation and Toyota folks to feature “Billy” at the Billy Hicks Classic (former Toyota Classic).
Let’s keep the momentum going! Please let me know if you or any groups you are connected to are interested in bulk orders to sell or give away!
Buy, read, review, share!
Recent Reviews / Feedback:
“Incredible story. Should be required reading for every student in Kentucky. The history of Harlan County, Eastern Kentucky and the Commonwealth herself is clear, concise and compelling.
Bryson shows how FDR, Justified, the origins of NASCAR, Mag Bailey, The Voice, the origins of America’s New Deal, worker’s rights, and Malcolm Gladwell all collide in the Harlan County that help make Billy Hicks as a man and Kentucky’s winningest Coach.
You will learn, laugh, and cry. You will want to read it again and give a copy to everyone you know. Most of all, you will be inspired by the impact one life can make on hundreds of other lives.
If you are like me, you will most feel both gratitude and inspiration. Billy endured a lot, persevered, owned his failures, shared his victories and showed up with a full heart and a life changing presence.
In a world full of thermometer's, Billy was a thermostat. He changed the games and changed lives. He succeeded at the highest levels and did so with great friends, a family who adored him, and he made plenty of time to fish, be with friends, study history, read war leader biographies, and cook with the best of ‘em.
As the book states, Billy Hicks had 1,000 career wins and 10,000 life wins. Get, read, share, buy a bunch, give away…I’m blown away.”
“This book is so much more than a sports story—it’s about perseverance, leadership, and the lasting impact one person can have on countless lives. The writing pulls you in and makes you feel like you’re walking alongside the people and places that shaped the journey. Whether you’re a basketball fan or simply someone who loves an uplifting story about grit and determination, this book will leave you inspired.
The author does a wonderful job of capturing not just the highlights of a career, but also the heart, humor, and humanity behind it. It’s a story of legacy, friendship, and showing up when it matters most.
I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys true stories that celebrate character, resilience, and the power of influence.”
