We are off to a great start and with the guidance of my Editor, Author Coach and Publisher we have agreed on a tactical decision to declare this season of the book a “soft launch” and target December 1st as the actual launch date.

That option was our ideal and choice #1 but required a hot start to the book and we have surpassed all our benchmarks. (A slower start, which would have been fine) would have triggered a next hard launch target in March 2026 at the KHSAASweet 16. 

This current phase that started August 15 is basically “friends and family and friends of friends”

High School Basketball Teams in KY can start practice Nov 17 and games Dec 5.

The Dec 1st full launch will include recruiting a launch team (made up of soft launch readers and fans of the book), press releases, book signings, making myself available to all media in KY especially targeting Lex and Louisville TV stations hand delivering them a “High School Basketball kicks off this week and here to tell us about a new book….” Low hanging fruit for Kentucky media.

We have been contacted by Scott County school officials to partner with them and be featured at the pre- Christmas basketball tournament formally known as the”Toyota Classic”, now the “Billy Hicks Classic.

I’m giving them books at cost for every single coach and player playing in the tournament and I came up with the idea to ship copies to the teams a month in advance so they can know something about Billy Hicks, whose name is on the tournament they will participate in.

Been in touch with my old friend and good buddy Freddy Maggard who is working on Matt Jones / KSR for me.
