Proverbs 17:3

“The crucible is for silver

and the furnace for gold…”

Crucibles and furnaces forge significant lives

Lives with weight to them

Lives that must be contended with

Lives of consequence

Crucibles and furnaces

We tend to dread them, hate them, & avoid them

What they build into us can get nowhere else

And we are not alone, in them

“When the three Hebrew boys were thrown into a fiery furnace for their faithfulness to God, King Nebuchadneezar came to witness their execution…but he was stunned to see not three but four men in the fire”

He is with us and for us…especially in the crucibles and furnaces

Quotes I’m pondering:

“The church is almost 99.9% of the time unable to apply its greatest gift to the sinner. When it comes to grace, God’s people choke.”

“Why is it that the one institution left in this world that still theoretically believes in sin, is so scandalized when they actually encounter it. Let’s push for a higher Doxology and a lower Anthropology…especially with pastors and leaders.”
