Proverbs 23:17

“Let not your heart envy sinners,
 but continue in the fear of the Lord all the day.”

The exhortation here is for us, as we go about our day, to reject looking horizontally, comparing ourselves, and envying other humans…

and to keep our gaze upward, vertically, to our Lord.

Our Loving, Perfect, Heavenly Father God.

Other human’s (other sinner’s) apparent successes… pale in comparison to the riches that are lavishly already poured upon those of us who are in Christ.

“Why pant for the approval of other serfs, when we already have the everlasting approval of The King.”
