idiot medicine
truth to slay the idiot within
Proverbs 25:20
“Like vinegar on soda, or he who takes your coat on a cold day…is he who sings happy songs to a troubled heart.”
Idiot School November
#14 Be Unsympathetic
This will require hard heartedness, learning not to feel and thus remaining relationally cold.
Be the Tin Man, no heart.
Manage those emotions in such a way that they never get expressed. White knuckle them if you have to. That will prevent any ounce of possible intimacy.
Being fully known and at the same time fully loved is for losers.
Resist the urge to hurt with those who hurt and mourn with those who mourn.
Run from hurting people, not towards them. Isolation is fantastic for grief.
Ignore the loss, don’t acknowledge the pain and if you do make contact, simply text them Romans 8:28 as a reminder
Be sure and communicate to them you know EXACTLY what they are going through.
And by all means, keep asking “What can I do for you?”, because it is well known that people in the midst of their grief, shock and trauma most want to pause and think hard about a way you might be able to help.
NEVER just mow the yard, take their kids out for a bit, do their laundry or bring a meal. That’s too helpful
Remember, like all the rest of life, everything is always about YOU.
Grindforth!
