truth to slay the idiot within
Proverbs 25:8
“What your eyes have seen do not hastily bring into court,
for what will you do in the end when your neighbor puts you to shame?”
“Do not believe everything you hear, and only ½ of what you see.”
Proverbial reminder that:
We are limited in our singular perspective, always.
People will way too easily pass along their assumptions as facts.
Accusations should be developed slowly, not quickly.
Relationship can be maintained and deepened with genuine questions like:
“can you help me understand…?”
“the story I am starting to tell myself is…. can you add some context?”
“this is what I saw, heard or was told to me… and I wanted you to know and give you a chance to explain. Is this true? Is there more to this story”
Small minds barter and build false narratives on rumor, gossip, slander and lies.
Great minds give the benefit of the doubt, follow up with concern, give grace and ask questions to determine truth.
Passed along wisdom:
Talk to people, not about people.
Talking out hard things > trying to text out hard things.
Partial truth is still a lie.
It is the only way.
