Proverbs 18:1

“Whoever isolates himself

seeks his own desire;

he breaks out against all sound judgment.”

Alone; no problem

Isolation; deadly

We isolate, to seek our own desire

It is running from sound judgment

Intentional acts of cutting everyone off and keeping everyone out

Good decisions live and replicate in the safety of good counsel from others

Noble dreams die without the oxygen of others

The best of me gets pushed to the top in the context of community

The worst of me takes front and center in isolation

Great people in my life can push me to levels of unimaginable greatness

Isolation can beat me down to unimaginable levels of depravity

Surrounded by a cloud of witnesses and spurred on to do hard things, incredible

Isolated by my lonesome; the opposite of incredible

The care, encouragement, wisdom, laughter, grace of others = the best of life

Me, alone, wallowing in self-focus, self-centeredness, self-pity = the death of life

My guilt and shame need to be regularly confronted by others, others dishing grace, dropping grace dimes like a point guard

Others remind me who God is, who I am, and whose I am.

It’s better that way!
