idiot medicine

truth to slay the idiot within

Proverbs 28:19

“Whoever works his land

will have plenty of bread,

but he who follows worthless pursuits

will have plenty of poverty.”

Work your land

The land right in front of you

Not last year’s land or wasting time wondering about next year’s land

Be faithful to your land; God has entrusted that land to you

Till it, seed it, pull the weeds, scarecrow the birds

It’s dirty work

‘Course it’s hard

Trust God to bring the rain, you and I cannot make it rain; only God

We live and labor dependently, by faith

He promises to bring the bread, plenty of it

He can make it rain like no other

Remember those disciples with nets so full they could not bring it into the boat

Remember those 12 extra containers of food left over after all 5,000 ate and were satisfied

All from five granola bars and two bluegill

The alternative is following worthless pursuits

Like wallowing in the past

Fretting over the future

Wasting away our days in self-pity

Looking past our land while waiting on land

what?

God interrupts faithfulness and catapults the faithful to new lands

God does not interrupt our worthless pursuits, except with pain and/or vanity

He who is faithful with what he has, right in front of his nose, will be entrusted with more

More bread, plenty of bread

Get dirty today, sweat, and go to bed tired.

Grindforth!

“We tend to obsess about the future, God’s will, and how to know it…often from a place of discontentment, unfaithfulness, and worthless pursuits. An alternative is the opposite: being as present and faithful as possible with what’s right in front of you and trusting God with your future. All throughout the Bible, God interrupts faithfulness and never has a problem being heard when it’s time to communicate a big change. I cannot remember a time in the Bible when God struggled communicating and being heard.”
