exodus 16

Exodus 16

God’s people were instructed to move on, towards a promised land, through wilderness

Multiple millions; freed slaves whose father and his father and his father and his father and his father, had been enslaved

Skilled in brick making and “yes, sirs”, not skilled in wilderness survival

Incidentally, props to God’s Providence

Moses spent his first 40 years in Pharaoh’s home

Moses spent his next 40 years in this same wilderness

The ex-murderer perfectly prepared to go to Pharaoh and lead in the wilderness

Providence is a beautiful thing, as is Redemption

[God is working in 50,000 unseen ways, in & around our lives, for His Glory, the good of others, & our good…& our future. HE KNOWS, we do not know, we TRUST]

This time, the whole congregations grumbles in unison

They were hungry and afraid they would die of salvation

“You have brought us into the wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger”

Mean Tweet: “Moses has murdered a man, now he is planning on murdering us masses”

“The Lord heard their grumbling” rut row

and has a gracious response,

The Glory of the Lord appeared in a cloud

I will cover the ground with quail every night for you to eat, no shotgun needed

I will cover the ground with bread every morning, while you sleep

“On the face of the wilderness, a fine, flake-like thing, like frost

the taste of it was like wafers, made with honey”

MADE WITH HONEY; It will not just sustain you, it tastes great, what a God!

Krispy Kreme > Grape Nuts

It was called Manna

It was provided every day

It could not be kept overnight, if you hoarded it, “it bred worms and stank”

Quail and manna, every morning, every night for 40 years

“The light is on, Hot now”

God promises us “new mercies every morning” as well, and delivers

His promise is the same, I will give you today, exactly what you need for today

You can worry about tomorrow, tomorrow

Anxiety is worrying about tomorrow’s problems without tomorrow’s Manna

Grindforth!…the light is on, Hot Now!
