answered prayer

sunday special

answered prayer

nothing brings me more joy, more relief

nothing makes me feel more seen, known, heard, and loved by God

I usually respond with Sunday Red, Tiger Woods’, fist pumps

Saying in a light voice, a combo of, “yes! yes! yes! thank you! thank you! thank you!”

I have had an embarrassingly low number of regular, intense, seasons of prayer

Seasons where I am launching specific missiles, wholeheartedly, consistently

like the persistent neighbor…coming back & knocking again, and again, and again,

giving God no rest

in those seasons, the results are tangible, incredible & amazing

the crazy maker, prayer can still feel to me “in the way” of the more helpful & productive

I wrote myself a prelude to the pouring section of my heart to God

I try to precede any asking with some moments of adoring God, confessing sin and practicing gratitude

it helps me and I hope it does you,

frees me to unload both barrels of requests and supplications

Father God, as I begin asking you for so many things,

I want to declare:

My view is limited.

But you see it all, everything

I do not know the future.

You do know the future

I am bringing sin, guilt & shame.

You have imputed to me & covered me in Jesus’ righteousness

Just as I do not see the whole, You do not see my sin

I do not even know what I truly want

You know all my needs, both shallow & deep

I have a lot of needs.

You are the Need Meeter

Bigger need = Bigger Jesus

Small need = Small Jesus

Rarely sure even what to pray.

You provide your Spirit to guide, intercede, & interpret

My prayers feel weak, small & pitiful.

You work mightily with tiny mustard seeds.

Like Elisha who was sent 7 back to back times to look for rain

On his 7th trip, he saw a puny cloud, the size of a man’s hand

Elijah declared, after hearing the report of the cloud from Elisha…get ready

Heaven is about to monsoon

Lord, may I be an Elisha, You my truer and greater Elijah

May I come back, again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again

Please show me small clouds

Please bring downpours

Grindforth!…prayerfully

It is a delight and honor to add your request to things I pray for

I sometimes pray early in the morning or as I walk
